A helicopter-mounted thermal scanning system is a powerful tool that can save lives and protect communities. Several factors, including, but not limited to, the sheer area that must be covered, and limited manpower and/or time, can hamper search and rescue (SAR) operations. Dense vegetation, heavy leaf canopies, and variable terrain often characterize search areas making search and rescue operations tedious. Furthermore, the victim often is unable to make their presence known to searchers or may want to remain unfound.
